​Members of Grant County SAR, ARES and GARS teamed up to provide communications for the annual Lighted Christmas Parade.
The weather cooperated, floats were well lit and everyone had a great time!

From the Gila Cliff Dwellings to the community of Deming...a disaster of major proportions brought out Ham Radio Operators from ARES, DARC, GARS and Grant County SAR along with members of the National Park Service and the US Forest Service to report on the flight of Wild Turkeys as they protested the human consumption of Holiday leftovers.  A very fun and educational event...!


The Great New Mexico Earthquake Drill
October 20th, 2016
 
During the late morning hours of Thursday, October 20th, GARS, ARES and Grant County SAR members teamed up to provide "reports" to Incident Command as Control Operator Rhett McMahon K5TIJ monitored the K5GAR Repeater.  Using the Mega-Link repeater on Pinos-Altos peak, Grant County, via relay from Marc Levesque W5MTS reported to the State of New Mexico 4 check-ins.  An additional 2 check-ins gave Grant County a total of 6 for the drill.
